Action during summary proceedings against the rent freeze! June 4 11:00 District Court of The Hague

On Wednesday 4 June, Aedes, the association of 230 housing corporations, will go to court to demand that the announced rent freeze be reversed. Aedes states that the announced rent freeze will bring new construction, renovation and sustainability to a standstill. The reality, however, is that rents have been increased by record percentages for years, while the construction of new social housing is lagging behind and tenants remain in moldy homes for decades. Government investments in social housing are lacking and the money to solve the housing crisis is being unilaterally taken away from tenants. Time to take action!

While the assets of many corporations are large, numerous social housing units are demolished, sold and liberalised. As a result, rents have become unaffordable, waiting lists are growing and increasingly large groups of tenants can no longer make ends meet after paying the rent. In this way, politics and Aedes play tenants and home seekers off against each other.

On May 10th, we take to the streets for lower rents and now it is time to show what we stand for. We have been fighting for lower rents and housing security for everyone for years, see among other things our 19 arguments for lower rents. Against populist mismanagement in which people who are on their last legs are being offered a carrot. What we want is a consistent policy that provides broadly accessible public housing for everyone. This means, among other things, that housing must be taken off the market and must become a basic provision. Expenditure on housing construction and sustainability should not only be recovered from sitting tenants. We demand lower rents!

So join us in taking action!

Wednesday, June 4 at 11:00 at the District Court of The Hague in the Palace of Justice at Prins Clauslaan 60.

Support the fight for housing security!
