Webinars Tenancy Law, Self-organization & Action Planning and Media Lobby & Research
The Bond Precaire Woonvormen continues to build a grassroots solidarity movement for housing security. In 2024 and 2025, the BPW will organize 3 online webinars for members of local and national BPW working groups. We want to share our knowledge and working methods so that as many people as possible can get started with this.
Webinar 'Tenancy law how and what'?
This introductory course is intended to provide members of local groups with the knowledge and resources to organize their members and incoming requests for help as best as possible.
What you learn:
- How to build a file; ensure that all relevant information is provided.
- How to identify the core question and problem.
- How to interpret the legal position of residents, how to consult and engage a lawyer in legally complex situations.
The course discusses common situations in tenancy law, such as the various (temporary) rental contracts, evictions and rent (price) protection. We will discuss a number of (anonymous) cases and explain the BPW solidarity fund for legal costs.
Webinar 'Self-organization and Action Planning'
This course covers the various work and action methods of BPW. After problem analysis and (legal) interpretation, there is work to be done!
What you learn:
- How you can create an action plan together with (groups of) residents and your local BPW group to claim housing rights.
- How to write a clear step-by-step plan and ensure that your campaigns and actions with residents can be even more effective.
- How to prepare yourself even better for follow-up actions and the various areas of the housing struggle.
Webinar Media, lobby & research
During this workshop you will learn how to write good demand articles with residents and how to mobilize for this. How to create change by making the various housing problems and solutions visible and inciting (local) policy makers to change. You will receive tips for making social media posts and keeping in touch with (local) media and politics.
What you learn:
- How to write a demands article and involve local and/or national media in your action, campaign or research.
- How do you maintain contact with local and national politics and map out interest groups to achieve our objectives?
- What methods can you use to conduct research?
With our model of self-organization and solidarity from below, we can involve people in our movement in a sustainable way and together make a stand for our right to live.

Militant gathering of housing activists in Barcelona.
From November 14 to 17, members of the Precarious Housing Association attended the meeting of theEuropean Action Coalition in Barcelona. Within this coalition, various housing action groups from all over Europe are affiliated. They are all concerned with the right to housing. These were inspiring days during which we were able to learn a lot about, for example, the announced rent strikes in Spain, the working methods of Heimstaden in the Czech Republic and the Referendum on Airbnb in Lisbon.
At the same time, our Spanish Host (PAH) an international conference on the vampire economy that sucks our cities dry for profit and doesn't care about people. There were activists all over the world. From MST, the landless farmers in Brazil to the Quakers in North Carolina. That also resulted in many interesting conversations. We can learn a lot from each other. And together we can, for example, also map and tackle the cross-border predatory investors and financial "vampire" companies!

Finally, at this meeting it was agreed to expand the European Housing Action Days to a global event! This way we can make it even louder heard how the struggle for fair housing is happening everywhere!

Residents of Reusel celebrate success
Recently, dozens of residents of the Busseltje in Reusel were threatened with eviction from their homes by housing corporation Wooninc. Residents organised themselves with the BPW, made a plan together and took action. And that housing struggle is paying off! Tenants from Reusel have forced a permanent rental contract. In this way, we prevent homelessness and evictions and claim housing security for everyone! ❤️✊🏘️ We want to thank everyone for the solidarity shown and congratulate the residents with this result. A more extensive report will follow on our site soon.
