BOND PRECAIRE WOONVORMEN

VACANCY – General Support Employee / Organizer

The Precaire Housing Association is an activist grassroots association that focuses on helping people who live insecurely, temporarily, or (too) expensively. The BPW opposes the rise of precarious housing and fights for housing justice. In recent years, the BPW has grown strongly as an organization and that is why we are now looking for an employee to support the organization on a self-employed basis. Do you also want to stand up for housing rights and do something against the precarization of the Netherlands? Then apply now for the role of General Support Employee / Organizer.

What are you going to do?

The BPW is active in many areas regarding housing, standing up for the rights of tenants through direct action and mutual aid. As a membership organization, we focus on establishing local groups and solidarity networks throughout the Netherlands. We can organize actions to draw attention to the problem, but also organize residential consultation hours to help people directly. To fill this role, we are therefore looking for a pragmatic all-round employee with an activist heart and a desire to learn about the housing struggle.

In the role of General Support Employee / Organizer, you actively work with the content coordinator of the BPW and help with organizational and administrative work. This includes administrative work such as drawing up minutes or organizing meetings, but also practical tasks such as going to local groups or attending actions. The BPW is constantly developing and you can therefore be the same in your role. There is plenty of room for personal development and your own input is encouraged. We are looking for support on the following tasks:

    • Support and strengthen the various urban and national working groups.

    • Monitoring and reporting on progress and improvements (progress and improvements: developments) in the functioning of the organization.

    • Be a key player in the performance of office tasks that support the substantive work of the BPW.

    • Strengthen the basis of working groups and establish connections and maintain contact with the rest of the organization.

The activities mentioned above should culminate in, together with the members and the content coordinator:

    • Achieving membership growth through advocacy and greater visibility.

    • Making the BPW a more effective membership organization.

    • Get BPW topics on the political agenda.

Who is the BPW looking for (X/M/F)?

The BPW is an active organization where the members are central. We are therefore looking for someone who is not only strong in terms of content, but also knows her way around socially. We strongly believe in the learning capacity of people and we believe who you are as a person is more important than what you can initially bring with you. So don't be deterred if you don't meet everything, if you have the desire to learn and work together, we would like to invite you to apply. Are you:

    • Someone who has an affinity with the subject of housing and is involved in the problems of precariously living people and tenants in the rental sector?

    • Someone who has strong communication skills?

    • A proactive person with a hands-on mentality who quickly recognizes and tackles challenges?

    • Someone who has organizational insight and knowledge of administrative matters involved in a grassroots organization?

    • Someone who has demonstrable experience with grassroots organizations and working with members, volunteers, and other stakeholders?

    • Someone who is willing to travel and work in the evenings and occasionally on weekends?

Are you also willing to work at the office in Den Bosch at least one day a week? Then we would like to get in touch with you.

What does the BPW offer?

The BPW mainly relies on the efforts of volunteers and the support of allies. It is possible to offer this position in accordance with the following conditions (including granting a subsidy):

    • A contract on a self-employed basis for 18 hours per week.

    • The collaboration is entered into for 1 year (45 weeks) with effect from July 1, 2024 and with the possibility of extension.

    • Travel allowance based on applicable regulations for public transport.

Got excited?
