BOND PRECAIRE WOONVORMEN

Amsterdam is losing more and more of its soul and integrity. Once a city for and by the people, now a city for project developers and big business. Communities that have shaped the city are being driven out for the sake of profit margins. However, the Van Baerle Voor Buren residents' group is one of the last bastions that remains standing in the gentrified Museum Quarter. The tenants come from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities and represent the communities mentioned above. However, they too are being driven out of H&R Holding, a major real estate investor in Amsterdam.

Living group 'Van Baerle For Neighbors'

The living group 'Van Baerle Voor Buren', which at the Van Baerlestraat 71 lives is deeply rooted in the community and the artists, researchers, teachers, social workers and community workers who live there make valuable contributions to the neighbourhood.

This last bastion against the tides of gentrification, will be threatened with deportation by means of H&R Holding. H&R was founded by the late Bertus Luske, aka 'the bulldozer', notorious for his violent attacks on squatters and dubious real estate practices.

Also at Van Baerlestraat 71, H&R questionable practices applied. The rooms were initially rented out on permanent contracts. But when the people with these kinds of schemes started to leave, the newcomers got temporary deals, to take the rent protection away from them. H&R now refuses to issue new contracts citing renovation plans forcing residents on would become homeless on June 30.

The contract of one of the residents, Ayse Nur, even expires on March 31. She had already agreed on a short extension so as not to end up on the street - but now she suddenly gets one court case brought against her. With this kind of practice H&R undermines the right of residence van Aysenur and all other residents of Van Baerle Voor Buren!

Residential group 'Van Baerle Voor Buren' and the BPW requirements:

1. Stop Ayse Nur's eviction on March 31 and allow all tenants to live until renovation

2. Offer alternative living space during the renovation

3. Let the tenants return after the renovation

On Thursday April 13 to 15 hours do we want H&R with our to demand confront them by handing them over at the head office on the Apollolaan 117A, Amsterdam. Ayse Nur's session is also over Tuesday April 18 to 2:30 pm in the court of Amsterdam on the Parnassus road 280. Come all and show your solidarity!
