On November 27 at 2:00 pm, the Bond Precaire Woonvorms (BPW) Leiden organizes a demonstration against threatened evictions of tenants who live in the Stationsflat opposite Leiden Central Station. Previously, the BPW Leiden already conducted action in The Hague, at the office of the landlord of the flat, Urban Interest.
Tenants are not exchangeable, not even in the Stationsflat! Urban Interest and Van 't Hof Rijnland choose to evict their tenants every two years to replace them with new temporary tenants. All this because there are demolition and new construction plans for the building at an uncertain time in the future. But that could take ten years. Instead of letting the residents sit until then, they are replaced every two years by new temporary residents. For example, tenants do not accrue rights and Urban Interest has all the benefits of continuous income and contracts that can be easily terminated, and residents are left with all the burdens of housing insecurity, having to look for a new house and home in an impossible housing market, and no rights.
Come and demonstrate with and for the residents of the Stationsflat in Leiden on Sunday 27 November, 2:00 PM! Homes for people, not for profit!
Â
The Bond Precaire Woonvorm Leiden demands from Urban Interest:
Let the residents of the Stationsflat in their own home
and offers residents a permanent rental contract!
and from politics:
Abolish the rental market flow law, offer housing security for everyone and prevent homelessness.
