Come to the tenant demonstration and handover of requirements in front of the City Hall at Coolsingel 40 Rotterdam on 25 February. Despite a deep housing and corona crisis, evictions continue as usual. Rotterdam (flex) tenants; residents from the Tweebosbuurt and the barracks are now taking action together. The time when residents are not taken seriously by, among others, Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb, Alderman Bas Kurvers, the city council and landlords is over
We citizens of this city want housing security and no longer accept this policy. Tenants, young, old, students, (flexible) workers, the unemployed are full-fledged Rotterdammers, but a roof over their heads is very insecure, even during a pandemic. This housing policy creates an increasing group of second-class tenants who are stuck in a musical musical chairs in the residential area. Due to the Housing Vision of Rotterdam, there are fewer and fewer social rental homes in Rotterdam. People are therefore forced to live temporarily, insecurely, too expensive or become homeless. Flex nomads (from flex house to flex house) are always evicted without tenancy rights. Many tenants are no longer sure of their house, their neighborhood or even their own city.

Vestia and Alvast are threatening to evict dozens of (flex) tenants from the Tweebosbuurt from 1 March. The municipality of Rotterdam and Camelot also threaten to evict the barracks from their homes as of 26 February. In addition, there are hundreds of tenants who lack housing security and who are at risk of eviction and homelessness in the near future. Residents are consistently not taken seriously and ignored. Vestia even closed its shutters and office and refused the residents threatened with homelessness that their wanted to hand over demands and petition on February 18th to speak.
We are now taking action for these tenants and for an inclusive city and solidarity society in which the human right to housing is guaranteed at all times.
Rotterdam belongs to all of us.
Residents supported by Bond Precaire Woonvorm demand from the municipality of Rotterdam, alderman Bas Kurvers and mayor Aboutaleb, as well as involved landlords:
1. Stop all evictions in Rotterdam now
2. Provides housing security for everyone. No one on the street

In accordance with the corona measures, we keep 1,5 meters away. And don't forget to bring your mouth cap. For those who do not have a mouth cap, BPW will provide it on site. In addition to the tenant action and the handing over of demands, there are short speeches. By simply coming to the action you are already a great support, but if you have the opportunity to make a banner or protest sign: have fun! Together we provide a powerful sound against failing housing policy.
