It is autumn 2020. The days are getting colder, the raindrops are filling the gutters while the water flows through the downspouts to the streets of Utrecht. You are on your way home. But what roof will you have over your head? A roof that will defy autumn and winter? Without leaks, mold and heat loss? A roof that you know offers you a home without the risk of eviction? A roof that won't cost you enormously?
It's not that easy to get hold of: a roof from Utrecht that offers you good quality, sustainable and affordable accommodation. Students have to 'bank-hop' due to a current shortage of 8,575 student rooms. The waiting time for social housing in Utrecht has reached a record high of 9 to 12 years this year. Renting in Utrecht has never been so expensive with an average of 17.21 euros per m2 in rent and the prices of owner-occupied homes rose faster in Utrecht at the beginning of 2019 than in Amsterdam. The consequences? A proliferation of anti-squat homes, temporary contracts and slum landlords, more insecurity and violations of housing rights and an increase in gentrification and exclusion of various groups.
The housing crisis affects Utrecht. The housing crisis affects us. We want roofs in Utrecht that offer people a stable and safe home. We are entitled to that and that is where we want to go. It's time for action. Time to reclaim the city from foreign investors, the municipality and cooperatives. Join us and make the city everyone's again!

It's autumn 2020. The days become darker, raindrops fall down into the gutters while water runs down the downspouts to the streets of Utrecht. You are on your way home. But under what kind of roof are you sleeping tonight? Will it defy the wintery months? Will it be without leakages, mold, and heat loss? Will it keep you safe from eviction, and will it not lead you into financial troubles?
It's easier said than done: finding a sustainable, qualitatively good, and affordable place to stay. Students have to couch-surf due to the current lack of 8575 student rooms. The waiting list for social housing in Utrecht has reached a new peak of 9 to 12 years. Renting in Utrecht has never been this expensive with an average of 17.21 euros per square meter, and the price tags for houses have increased even more in Utrecht than Amsterdam. The consequences? A wild growth of anti-squatting, contemporary contracts, increased precarity and violations of housing rights, and an increase in gentrification and exclusion of minorities.
The housing crisis is hitting Utrecht, and it's hitting us hard. In Utrecht, we want roofs above our head providing stable and safe homes. It's time to take a stand. Time to take back our town from foreign investors, municipalities, and cooperation's. Join us and make our town for everyone.

After the meet-up there will be (vegan) food and drinks to celebrate the start of our fight. From 6 onwards there will be live music.
